Good Base Don’t Go Nowhere

I had a bad running injury a couple of months ago. It happened while I was bowling. Speed bowling.
I figured I’d be out 5 days tops. 2 months later I’m just now running again. I was clicking along with some decent mileage when I got hurt too.
I’m back now though. And it turns out [...]

Fuck you snow.

Man. DC is a tough place to run sometimes. Like last week. When we got 40 inches of snow. It wasn’t very safe to walk around let alone run. So needless to say I missed a solid week + of running. I think I’m going to be a little more aggressive during my LA trips [...]

Turnover

Up to 27.5 miles off the first three days this week. If I could get another 2.5 weeks of this pace I think I’ll feel pretty strong. I tried dipping into speed work – but it really seemed to wreck my legs a little too much. I don’t think my base is strong enough yet. [...]

Don’t Jinx Me

An update has been long overdue. I think it’s because I didn’t want to be jinxed. It seems like every time I get something going I post on here then get derailed. (fingers crossed)
A big perk in my training occurred about two months ago when I was finally able to start running to and from [...]

Pikes Marathon

I was running yesterday at what I think was a decent clip. I then realized Pike probably ran his marathon faster than I do any of my 4 mile runs. I proceeded to cry myself to sleep on the side of the street.
In other news I got a 30 pound weight vest. I do a [...]

Dawdles in the Afternoon

I have been running. A bit. Today as I ran by a school someone screamed and shouted “Nasty” while pointing at my bearded shirtless frame bouncing alongside the afternoon traffic. Making a kid wince made my day.
My legs feel great right now.

Oh the week

My mileage for the last week was 30.2…right on track for where I’d like to be. I ran a solid 12-13 this weekend and I’ll be interested to see how my evening run goes tonight. I’ve been diligent on the icing…but I really feel like I have turf toe. That always sounds like some infectious [...]

Party like it is 2009

I’m sitting with my laptop typing this as my legs are immersed in some very cold icy water. Blogging and icing. That is both cool, hip and futuristic no? Actually it’s not that cold, I think the last few days have made some of the sand fall out of my vagina. I ran for a [...]

Small Update

There is a mile race on September 27th right next to my house. Literally at the end of my block. I’m moved. I’m settled. I have a huge bucket to ice my legs in. I have 4 new pairs of running shoes. So that being said the last I checked I had run about 21 [...]

Lazy Sunday

Double post today as yesterday I trucked through a solid 5.5-6. We’ll call it 5.5. Things are pretty boring at the moment. Just trying to log those miles. Brad Walsh (Obie Alum) was in town on saturday and as always it was great to see a fellow Obie. While I never ran with Brad in [...]
