Peppermint

I took a glorious run on Tuesday afternoon to celebrate the end of perspective student season here at UT. As I rolled up Congress Ave, I stopped at a light with an old black guy in sweats. It being mid 80s, I told him that he looked hot. He said that he wasn’t because of [...]

How long until summer?

Another couple days split between 5-6 miles easy on the treadmill and 15-25 rolling on the bike.  Some lifting in there somewhere too, if I recall.  Not a lot of excitement going on in my basement.  The spiders are not wild partiers.
Every night and most days I dream about when the weather is nice and [...]

Broken!

It seems only natural that a week after my breakthrough I am back to low mileage. This time it is the snow’s fault (no I have not hurt myself). We got a good couple inches last night which would have been okay if the bike path wasn’t STILL unplowed… oh and I am going to [...]

Breakthrough!

Finally after telling myself (and you all) that I was going to run 25 miles week after week I have done it. Four weeks of “running-in-place” in terms of mileage (19, 20, 20, 20) has ended with a 25 mile week this week. No shortening runs or extra days off to ruin the weekly mileage [...]

STI’s and SSD’s

Heya,
I did a number of things today:

*turned in a crappy problem set
None of these things really matter to the folks at TrialsofMiles. The _noteworthy_ things that I did today were two:
*I got tested.
*I threw in some strides and some SSD after my 6 [...]

Winters like this are always getting your hopes up

Another beautiful day (2 in a seven day period!) so another 5 easy miles.  Nothing really intersting, except that I did the exact same course as Saturday, but 2 minutes faster and I felt better.  Maybe the biking has helped some so I can adapt faster?  I don’t know.
Yesterday was biking with 10 x 1 [...]

There’s sickness in the east-midwest too

I too have been sick for about a week.  I probably could have run through it (in the old days) but it was still cold, so I took most of the time off.  When I biked I kept having to stop and blow my nose before it dripped all over everything. Gross.
But today.  Glorious today.  [...]

Harbingers of Spring

Howdy, gents.  We’re having our second day here of 50+ degree days. Hopefully a sign of things to come.  Fuck them groundhogs. Super Bowl weekend serves as my re-emergence as a contender.  Not to say I’m officially ready to contend physically, but mentally… oh baby, look out. haha.  I’m hopeful about reintegrating weekday runs. It’s [...]
