More and more

7 easy on Sunday
Off yesterday but I lifted
4 easy today, followed by some kickball. We lost (again).  But we’ve won a game.  So we’re better than the Lions

Updates

So, taking it easy mostly.
I ran 4 easy on Monday
Biked 20 with a guy from school Tuesday
Day off Wednesday
Was supposed to do 6 easy Thursday, but about 3 miles in I ran into some of the guys I run with pretty regularly and they convinced me to do some thousands with them.  Not too fast, [...]

6/14 to 6/21 >>> crap

only 14 miles, not a very willful week. I won’t count the 9-mile walk in Philly, though I should considering that my feet resent me for it.  I’m mixing biking in now, especially early this week. Also, looking forward to bearing one more week of DC heat before a blissful respite in Vermont. Stay tuned. [...]

Successful!

Both the 12 mile long run in the humidity last night and the wisdom teeth surgery this morning. Now I just need mutant powers like Wolverine and I can get back to running tomorrow morning. I am particularly excited about the long run because I tried running 11 this past Sunday and had to walk [...]

Wow where did May go?

Long time no post for me with no lack of runs to report. Since my last post was over four weeks ago I will not update you on every run, but will instead give you the overview… I have been fluctuating in my mileage due to various “factors” that end up being excuses rather than [...]

My achilles is my… achilles

I’ve run only twice since my workout last Wednesday.  Yesterday I did 8 and today 5.  Apparently I ramped up the mileage too fast or something, because my achilles is all swollen and painful, so I took the last few days off last week (ab work and such still, but running and biking both hurt, [...]

Oh the week

My mileage for the last week was 30.2…right on track for where I’d like to be. I ran a solid 12-13 this weekend and I’ll be interested to see how my evening run goes tonight. I’ve been diligent on the icing…but I really feel like I have turf toe. That always sounds like some infectious [...]

The pitfalls of summer

I had modest success reaching my goal this week: over 20 miles, but not 25.  I capped the week with an 8.5-miler yesterday, for 21.5 total. I realized that I will feel comfortable running races just when it gets too hot to run races. July and August are terrible times to run around here, so [...]

First Workout

R-1
5 x 2×200 + 1×400 at R.  I had to guess a little at the distances, but I had a loop that we used to do 400s on and I kind of eyeballed the halfway point.  Has to have been pretty close.  All the 2s were between 33 and 35 and the 4s were 70 [...]

High Schoolers

Today the high schoolers actually showed up.  It was all sunny and nice so they decided to go out for a jog.  As if the storms would stop a real man.  Of course, when I was in high school I barely ran over the summer at all, but we didn’t have summer practice until my [...]
